Southwark Free School has been launched!
Free Schools form an important part of the Government’s Education policy allowing schools to be established by local people keen to improve education in their communities. Southwark Free School Trust has appointed a Headteacher, Geri Askin, found a building for conversion in Rotherhithe New Road, SE16 and plans to be ready for its first intake of children in September 2012. Set up by local people it responds to a current and forecast shortfall of primary school places in the Borough of Southwark. As a result the school will complement and not compete with existing provision. It will also give parents and children a wider choice of local schools.
Southwark Free School Trust wants to hear the views of local residents, parents, children, businesses and organisations about its plans and will be holding a series of public meetings.
Consultation meetings will be held in the Links Community Centre, 353 Rotherhithe New Road, London SE16 3HF on the following dates:
· Friday 30th March 2:30-4:30pm
· Tuesday 3rd April 2:30-4:30 and 6:30-8:00pm
· Wednesday 18th April 10am – 12pm
Further Information is available at www.southwarkfreeschool.com. If you are unable to attend any of the above meetings you can let the Trust know your views by filling in their community survey form online. The online form is available on the Southwark Free School website.
