Local resident Craig Cox has been selected to fight the Surrey Docks by-election on June 9th, for the Conservatives. A strategy consultant advising government departments, Craig has lived in London since moving down from university in 2011. He has made Southwark his home and for several years worked in nearby Canary Wharf, experiencing the frustrations of the daily commute with Southwark’s poor connections across the river. Like most hard working people in Surrey Docks, Craig is a private renter who aspires to buy his own home and help others in the same boat to fulfil their aspirations.
Craig is no stranger to public service; he has long been involved in local politics, and has experience as a local councillor fighting for his key values: improved public services, protecting the environment and ensuring value for money.
As a strong local champion, Craig wants to lay the foundations for a new approach to improving the lives of everyone in Surrey Docks. Craig wants to use his private sector experience to get great initiatives like the Rotherhithe Bridge up and running, to ensuring access to Super-Fast Broadband is a right, and fighting to get value for money for hard working local taxpayers.
